Maybe Tomorrow, You'll Know
Sometimes a love story ends before we even understand why. Maybe that's why the recent rumors surrounding Margaret Qualley and Jack Antonoff have caught so many people's attention. For many people, it feels like another reason to lose faith in love—especially because Lana Del Rey wrote one of the most beautiful love songs inspired by their relationship, Margaret.
The song goes:
When you know, you know
When you know, you know,
kinda makes me laugh, runnin' down that path
When you're good as gold'
Cause when you know, you know
But do we ever really know if the person we're with is the one?
Sometimes we convince ourselves that they are "the one" because we're afraid we won't find anyone better. Other times, we let go of people who truly love us for reasons we can't even explain.
But here's another thought: what if we only thought we knew, and now it's nothing more than a memory?
Some people, like me, like collecting memories. Others try to bury the past, and I think the reason is often regret. Regret can come from arriving too late, saying the wrong thing, never apologizing, or simply living with the feeling that we should have done something differently.
I don't know why Margaret and Jack may have separated—if they even did. Their relationship is theirs, and none of us knows the whole story.
But I do know one thing: regret is one of the most terrifying feelings a person can carry.
If someone brings peace, love, and kindness into your life, don't let them go too easily. Life changes faster than we expect, and we never really know what tomorrow will bring.
Then again, maybe don't take relationship advice from a 16-year-old girl. What do I know? I'm just trying to make sense of love like everyone else.
There's another lyric from Margaret that I keep thinking about:
Maybe tomorrow, you'll know
Maybe tomorrow, you'll know
Maybe tomorrow, you'll know
I mean, join the party
By the way, the party is December 18.
But what if tomorrow is too late?
What if we miss the party on December 18?
Will we spend the rest of our lives wondering what would have happened if we had stayed, spoken up, or simply held on a little longer?
Maybe we'll know tomorrow.
Or maybe tomorrow is exactly what we're not promised.
Maybe we never truly know.
Maybe that's the point.
